An easy solution to this would be for the customer to just place a second order with the missing items.

Mendel Engel this isnt an easy solution because the customer has to pay processing fees a second time, and we then have to keep up with a second order. Remembering to pack all their items into the same bag even though theres two orders. What would be an easy solution is being able to add, remove, or modify items on an order before the actual event date. Including adding items to upsell just before events. Ideally for example a customer would recieve a text for their order saying would you like to add any items to your order? Then prompting them to add items they may have forgotten or want to add. The option to REMOVE items or modify items should only be shown to us as the bakers to make changes at our discretion so that modifications like allergen changes, or additional inclusions ect. Is something we can control for last minute changes. Also, this would help to ensure we have the necessary ingredients for certain changes. Ideally limiting the items available for last minute add ons in that link would also be ideal. Like having only a limited menu available for last minute add ons in the link. At minimum, a partial solution would be a prompt for customers to add to their order, then having the second order automatically link to the first order to send us ONE updated order as the bakers with a notification that says "new items added" in a LARGE NOTIFICATION so add ons aren't missed.

Mendel Engel merging two orders from the same customer would be a big help, but it would honestly be much more efficient if the original order is just updated and shows the new updated total at checkout for the customer. This way the customer can see what their original order was and add items they might want to their order. Otherwise I may not remember what I originally ordered and accidently order too much or too little. It would alleviate a lot of headaches if the customer can see their original order when prompted to add new items.
As a customer even if the fee is percentage based its a psychological thing. I think I'm paying double the fees having to process a second order instead of just updating the one I already placed. Even if theres still an added cost, I wouldn't see it that way.
Also, I mentioned before, it would be prudent to be able to have a more limited menu offered for the prompt for last minute additions. With items we can choose that would be possible to add on a shorter timeline.

Mendel Engel we can’t do that if the bake day is closed unless we reopen it. Ideally we’d have the option to add an item to their order and then send them a remaining balance due invoice with a payment due by time.

Lorraine O'Regan I agree. As a sourdough person, I have to cut off my orders in time to make and ferment everything. I wish I were able to have a cut off time for those items and then leave the items that I can make much faster (or that are shelf stable) open longer. Right now I go in and manually “turn off” the items that need a longer time, but I’ve def forgotten and had to scramble.

I just had this happen last week. It was a cash order too, so i wish i couldve changed her order. I ended up canceling and re-entering for her corrected. What a pain.

Angela McGahan it wouldn't be so bad if i didn't see the canceled order as well. If i could at least delete of the screen. I always freak out thinking i forgot an order
